Thankful

Certain events lately, in either my personal life, or the greater global scene, have reminded me to be thankful. They have reminded me that every life is special. That everyone is important. That every feeling is valid. That every dream can be a reality. That every day can bring new hope. That every kind word can make a difference somewhere. That graciousness should never be forgotten. That generosity can touch far more than the intended recipient. That old memories can give intense comfort to new realities. That every day is new and a fresh start. That some things can never be undone, but can be remedied. That words carry intense meaning. That love is always the best present to give and receive.

That said, I am thankful for:
two beautiful, healthy children who grow with each day and each experience
a husband who loves me far more than I can sometimes grasp
family, near and far, who are always close, and can always be reached
friends: seen nearly everyday, seen once a month, seen once a decade
a roof over our heads, a sandbox under a tree, a paint-chipped swing and tall weeds to pull
a full freezer and pantry, the knowledge that nourishing food is never more than a few minutes away
long baths in hot water
words: on paper, on a screen, in a letter, on the wall, always ready to be read
pictures: printed, painted, on paper, on a screen, on a wall; made with paint, ink, markers, crayons, imagination
hugs
kisses
pillows
recipes
songs on the stereo and from little mouths, dances that accompany them perfectly
life, both when it is given, and taken away
contentment
comfort
peace
love

May you be blessed with all that life has given you.
