Lauryn is 4!We celebrated Lauryn's birthday on Saturday. She is now 4! Pardon the lack of pictures, like I said, no digital camera means no instant photographic gratification.
We began with a get together at our house with the grandparents with a homemade Spongebob cake, crabby patties (hamburgers), fruits and veggies. The eating didn't last long before Lauryn was ready to open up presents!
After playing with her new toys and gifts, we all got in our cars and headed to the newly renovated Keeper of the Plains -- one of Lauryn's favorite places. We got there right at 9 p.m. in hopes of seeing the "ring of fire" light up all around the base of the structure, in rocks in the waters of the Big and Little Arkansas Rivers. It would have been an amazing sight -- but for some reason the fire didn't turn on. It happens -- sometimes due to water levels or maintenance or somebody screwing around with the sensors in the water (a seriously dumb thing -- swimming in the water to mess with giant fire balls -- not smart.)
But we had a good time anyway, walking around the keeper, the pedestrian bridges over the rivers and listening to Owen be our tour guide.
Sometime I'll get the photos of the party developed, and post those too -- but for now an old pic I took of the Keeper will have to do. To see what its supposed to look like with the fire, check out the city's Keeper of the Plains website.
