What we did this summer (v. 1)

Okay. This is my first real attempt at a blog. Bear with me -- this might be a bit painful. My first blog will be a short test one -- hopefully they'll get better and more informative.
Here goes..
Just one of the things we did this summer:
Went on an impromptu weekend out of town -- jumped in the van with a cooler full of food, and enough necessities to last for a few days. We ended up at a town about an hour away -- stayed in a hotel, swam all day and night in the pool and discovered the new adventures of a new small town. We played at the park, climbed all over the old steam locomotive, checked out the stores on mainstreet, tried a new restaurant, drove in the country, drove through the neighborhoods and swam, swam, swam in the pool. On our last day, there was a benefit BBQ (for a memorial fund for an 18 year old girl who was murdered in this small town last January -- very heartbreaking story, we covered it all over the news ...). So we ate BBQ, played on the inflatables, slid down the slides, listened to some great live music, ate snow cones and yes, got balloon animals. It was a great weekend. And only a few miles away from home.
