Guests Welcome!

Okay, guests have always been welcome, but now we have something more to welcome you with:

A FUTON!
We are getting to the stage in life, where we are attempting.... slowly.... cautiously .... carefully.... by saving pennies and dimes.... to buy some new, decent, good quality home furnishings. Much of our furnishings are hand-me-downs, garage sale purchases, cast aways, throw aways, etc. I'm still very proud of some of the great deals we've been able to acquire over the years. But now that our kids are getting a bit older (less likely to throw up, pee/poop on, spill on, color on or otherwise demolish our furnishings) we were considering buying a new couch. We thought about buying a futon, to be able to accommodate guests, and still be affordable. But WOW... buying a new futon, nice mattress (the thick mattress makes all the difference -- the cheap ones will wreak havoc on your tailbone/back) and decent cover... just as expensive or MORE than a regular old couch (which I prefer the look of.) Soooo... do we splurge and buy a sleeper sofa (much to the chagrin of the wonderful friends and family members who will one day help us move out of our current home -- those things are heavy!) .... or do we buy a basic sofa, and lose the ability to hosts guests with a "bed".... or do we get a futon that may look a bit cheaper, but is more functional?

The answer? Stumble across a lightly used futon with a nice THICK mattress, in the final hour of a garage sale and offer them 40 bucks. Whoo-hoo! Perfect for our living room, perfect for the occasional sleep-over guest, and quite frankly, perfect price! (Again, not the style I would have picked out if buying new, but cheap buyers can't be picky buyers!)
By the way, Lauryn is just enthralled with the idea of a bed in our living room -- " that way if we wake up and we're still tired, we can just sleep on the bed in the living room!" -- I love the logic of a 4 year old.
So if you're ever in town... stop on by... the "Hilton" is open!
